National Gallery to reveal its fakes in exhibition

The National Gallery is dusting off some of its most embarrassing acquisitions for a new exhibition looking at fake artworks.
Close Examination will display works of art that have been quietly removed from view after research showed they were not what they were thought to be.
They include works supposedly by Sandro Botticelli and Hans Holbein which were mistakenly thought to be genuine.
More than 40 works of art will go on display at the gallery in June.
The exhibition is billed as a celebration of "the remarkable collaboration of scientists, conservators and art historians" at the central London gallery.

Pastiche
Spread across six rooms, the works represent some of the biggest challenges faced by gallery experts.
In June 1874, the gallery paid more for a fake than a real Botticelli when two pieces were purchased at the same time.
Venus and Mars were bought along with the more expensive An Allegory, which was thought to be a companion piece.
Only later was the latter discovered to be a pastiche painted by a follower in the style of Botticelli.
The paintings will be displayed alongside one another at the exhibition.
Also on show will be a portrait acquired by the National Gallery in 1990 which was believed to be by Holbein.
But microscopic paint analysis revealed Portrait of Alexander Mornauer (about 1464-88) was altered to resemble a work by the German master.
Conservators were able to safely remove these additions to return the painting to its original state.
One room in the exhibition looks at work by great artists that were rediscovered through a combination of scientific analysis, conservation, and art historical research.
Raphael's original painting of The Madonna of the Pinks, whose whereabouts was unknown until 1991, will also be on display.
During a visit to Alnwick Castle in Northumberland, Dr Nicholas Penny - now director of the National Gallery - spotted the painting and decided it warranted closer examination.
Infrared reflect grams confirmed the work as a genuine Raphael.
Close Examination: Fakes, Mistakes and Discoveries opens on 30 June and runs until 12 September.

Summary
Wonderful ancient paintings are unique sights of the world. We are excited to watch these creations. I agree that they have to be expensive. Because, they are only and never be found again the style.
On the other of the coins, some people make not real creation. But people who interest ancient paintings don’t know these people’s bad activities. I’m very sad.
We have to save our precious art creation, it is our responsibilities.
We have to proud of the Wonderful and amazing art and precious creations.

Teaching philosophy

The object of teaching a child is to enable him to get along without his teacher.
Elbert Hubbard
When most students entered into any university, they want to be good student at languages. They think that if we can pass college exam and then enter it, we can speak, listen, read and write fluently. At that time, they have great inspiration. Thus, teacher’s very acceptable responsibility is to encourage their learning desire, especially speaking lesson.
I think, teachers who teach speaking lesson have to make speaking environment. Not only their speaking skill was improved but also other abilities become better. Making any language spoken environment in Mongolia means that we create new cabinet which is very open surroundings. In there, students can open their talents and abilities which they communicate to with any sector’s people. I think, it is the most important teaching method. So we must change Mongolian education system.

Mongolian university students and the internet

Nowadays, the internet is public usage of people. So I asked some questions about the internet from students. To my way of thinking, the internet gives us opportunity to get international news quickly. There are most of important and useful information in the internet. Thus, let’s read their answers.
1. Do you think you can find what you need from the internet?
o “It’s 100% possible, because, all kind of information is presented in there. They can be updated” said Lkhagwasuren student of English department
o “yes, sometimes I get, sometimes I don’t get” said Ganzul student of English department
o “Yes, I find information what I need. If we research information, we will find” said Erdenezaya student of English department
2. What are common characteristics Mongolian university students in the internet?
o They use internet for chatting each other. They use his and other sites. I don’t think, they don’t use to do their homework. They use also the internet assuming themselves. Said Ganzul student of English department
Students can find good information from the internet. May be, it helps them to do their homeworks and write essays. When our parents were children, there was no internet. They found world news from books. They read a lot of.
3. How does the internet affect you? What do you learn?
o The internet gives us a lot of information. It gives us bad and good influences to me. I don’t learn much, because we don’t use internet to learn something. said Lkhagwasuren student of English department
Finally, the internet affects bad and good to students. Some students use the internet to do their homework, but some students use the internet to enjoy.

Industry and household smoke

Many apartments are built in the city. Builders pay attention appearance of Ulaanbaatar. Many people move to urban, so there are so many cars in the center of city. Their smoke pollutes city air. The households who came from rural increased in ger resident, which means, ger resident is becoming a large amount of people. Their tracks, cinders and smokestack pollute the air, so children suffer from an obscure malady.
“I think, Although, Government does many things in order to reduce air pollution, they can’t. If they change to become apartments ger resident, they never resolve the issue. It is the best way to improve city infrastructure” said resident of Ulaanbaatar city Baljid
I also think that it is good idea. In my opinion, our authorities thought fluently about the issue, but there are a lot of problems in our country. We, citizen in Ulaanbaatar, have to try and do to reduce air pollution ourselves. Mongolia is only motherland of Government authorities, also it is mine. Thus, we must bless and save our nature.

2. Air pollution is one of the biggest problems in Mongolia. So, I have a lot of information about this issue. Citizens who are walking in City Street have interviewed with me.

Destroying forest

Forest can clean air, one old tree imbibe 5 tons carbon emission. So, forest saves us from polluted environment. However, people cut them in great numbers to use other things and to urbanize. When people are picking fruits and picnicking in mountains, they catch fire in the forest and destroy trees. It caused extremely polluting air. At least five truck of firewood are carried to in center of city every day. It is bad warning of destroying forest and polluting air and environment.
“Planting trees activity is announced to public and people are doing it. However, illegal wood preparers cut the young trees. So, our forest is in dangerous situation. We have to refresh old trees, but they destroy young and fresh trees. We have to stop them” said resident Tsengel
If we don’t compete the people, our nature is destroyed by internal and strangers. I think, the Government has to punish them and do big step to stop them.

Air pollution

A big problem in many developed and developing country’s is air pollution. There are three reasons to pollute the environment. They are population density, destroying forest, and industrial and household smoke.

Population density
The Ulaanbaatar city is located between four big mountains. Mongolia has a large territory, but our capital city is being in small piece of the area. There must reside no more than six hundred thousand people in the city. However, the number is superfluous. A million people who are registered and unregistered citizens live in Ulaanbaatar. It is one of the main reasons polluting air. All markets and service offices are centralized in one place.
”I live in Dari ekh province of Sukhbaatar district. People who live in there throw their cinder and house rubbishes in road. So, our road became deposal site. When I go out in the morning, cinder makes sore my tongue.” Said Dari Ekh province’s resident A.Gantsetseg
We have to move city centralization to suburb in order to reduce air pollution.

Interview

As the sun colors flowers, so art does color life.
John Lubbock
I do agree this aphorism. If there are not art in the world, we can’t feel and enjoy happiness. I love Terpsichorean art, when I was child, I wanted to be dancer. But I can’t, I don’t secret it. So, I interviewed with Enkhgerel Dash-Yachil, Mongolian best dancer at the “Goo Maral” Performing Art Award. Let’s read it.
1. Why do you choose this your career?
When I was child, I watched famous dancers in television. My dream is to become best dancer like them. I took dancing exam in Culture College and other dancing schools, but I always failed the exam. However, I never gave up. Because, I very love the dancing, it is important part of my life. My father saw my diligence, so I first entered paying dancing circle. I attended in many dancing circles, because I had 4 younger brothers and sisters. I had to look after them; hence, I always was late from my dancing circle. I appreciate to choose my career triumphing over difficulties.
2. Please tell me about your biography. Where do you begin your working?
I have been with Tumen Ekh folk song and dance ensemble since 1994. I graduated from the Culture College in 1994, and university of Arts and Culture in 2000 as a professional dancer and choreographer and Management Academy as a master of management in 2008.
My dancing skills were assessed by USA experts and professionals and I study at the American Dance Festival Six week School in Durham, North Carolina, the USA 2005, has brought certain change to my future career. I want to spread international modern dance in Mongolia.
3. How about your creation?
I first play in “Stepmother” film as a main role in 1994. Since that time, I choreographed and performed many stage dances and performances, such as I was choreographer and organizer in “Mother of land”, “IQ 2”, “Tsam dance 108”, “Tropical Jazz” and “Urlan bujehui” in 2003-2009. Best female dancer at the “Goo Maral” Performing Arts Award in 1996, and “Mongolian excellent worker of Culture and Art” in 2002.
Thank you for coming in our studio and interviewing with me. May good success attend your future career?

Robert Hass

He was born in San Francisco on March 1, 1941. His books of poetry include Time and Materials (2007), which won the 2007 National book Award; Sun under wood: New poems (1996); Human Wishes (1989); and Field Guide (1973), which was selected by Stanley Kunitz for the Yale Younger Poets Series.
About Hass’s work, Kunitz wrote, “Reading a poem by Robert Hass is like stepping into the ocean when the temperature of the water is not much different from that of the air. You scarcely know, until you feel the undertow tug at you, which you have entered into another element.”
Hass served as Poet Laureate of the United States from 1995 to 1997 and as a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets from 2001 to 2007. He lives in California with his wife, poet Brenda Hillman, and teaches at the University of California, Berkeley.
Heroic Simile
When the swordsman fell in Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai
In the gray rain,
In Cinemascope and the Tokugawa dynasty,
He fell straight as a pine, he fell
As Ajax fell in Homer
In chanted dactyls and the tree was so huge
The woodsman returned for two days
To that lucky place before he was done with the sawing
And on the third day he brought his uncle.
They stacked logs in the resinous air,
Hacking small limbs off,
Tying those bundles separately.
The slabs near the root
Were quartered and still they were awkwardly large
The logs from midtree they halved
Ten bundles and four great piles of fragrant wood,
Moons and quarter moons and half moons
Ridged by the saw’s tooth.

I found this poem from on the internet. Robert Hass is the best writer of poem. His poems are usually esoteric meaning. In my opinion, he tried to describe how to attend nature and forest. Nature is alive, of course many people do agree, because it always gives reactions to us if we destroy nature. One day, a person said me that the nature had created mankind, which means, we are creation of nature, and it is God of universe. If there aren’t any animals, mountains, rivers and forest, we couldn’t survive in the world. It is law of nature. I think the person’s right. We have to take care and save our nature like our family, because, the nature is parent of us. If you destroy nature, you are going to receive the great punishment.

Mongolian national song and dance “Tumen Ekh” ensemble

There are many national ensembles in Mongolia. The ensemble is the best one. It was established in 1989 by a group of outstanding artists. Its name also has interesting history. I think that Mongolian all period of people know this drawling song, it is Tumen ekh, which was very famous folk long song. Thus, they decided to name “Tumen Ekh”, which is the phrase of “Head of the whole thing”. The ensemble is home of 40 professional artists eminent in Mongolia and abroad. They perform not only on stage habitually, but also tutor and do research in various institutions. During the last 20 years, Tumen Ekh Ensemble has visited to more than 30 countries showing to the people of the world the unique, attractive, colorful and wonderful Mongolian performances. Throat singing, contortion, folk long and short songs, folk dance and tsam mask dance which are well-known arts in the world are performed in its stage. Throat singing is a difficult skill requiring special ways of breathing. It is considered musical art not exactly singing. In 1940, Mongolian state circus was established, since that time female artists started to perform contortion. The tsam is ancient religious ritual which reflects Buddhist teaching through images. This ceremony was first introduced to Mongolia in the early ninth century. Its performing hall which name is “Hotol baysgalant harsh /Hall of joy for all/” is designed for well-being and comfort like Mongolian traditional dwelling. Foreign and internal guests can watch performers closely. The ensemble is awarded the Bronze Medal by Japanese Mask Dance Contest in 1997, “Mongolian Image” award from the Trade and Industry Chamber of Mongolia in 2006.
